What is Local Code?
Local Code is a private AI agent made by Draw Things. It combines model inference with an agent runtime containing Python, Node.js, a shell and tools for working with documents, spreadsheets and code. Give it a workspace folder, describe a concrete task, and review the files it produces.
It is useful for people who want to analyze data, prepare reports, create presentations or build software with an assistant that can work on their Mac. Developers can inspect the source and add skills. People working with sensitive files can choose on-device inference and decide which folders and network services to use.
The product's name is Local Code. “By Draw Things” identifies its publisher and distinguishes this app from other products and unrelated uses of the words local code. Draw Things also makes a separate image-generation app; the downloads below are specifically for Local Code.

Mac, iPhone and iPad availability
Local Code is for Mac, iPad and iPhone. On Mac, it needs Apple Silicon with 16 GB or more and macOS 26.0 or later. The direct download is for Mac. Check the model selection guide to see which models fit your memory.
The source repository also contains iPhone and iPad build instructions.
Is Local Code free?
The app is free to download. On-device models cost nothing per token, and your own API keys have no markup. Hosted models use credit top-ups ($9.99, $19.99 or $99.99), no subscription.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once a model is downloaded, Local Code works with no connection at all. Only steps that go online, such as web research or a cloud model, need one. Read what stays local and what uses a connection.
Ready to try it? Follow the Mac setup guide or choose a small task from the workflow examples.
